Mild citrus smell, lathers great, effective on killing fleas and not the budget! My grail shampoo!
Iâm almost embarrassed that I had to order this. I had a slight flea infestation thanks to âLe Dogâ. In 30 years of dog & cat ownership I have never had to deal with fleas and ticks. Fast forward to 2023, Iâm now living adjacent to a dense wooded area. Stupid me, I thought those expensive monthly chew tablets prescribed by the vet for fleas & ticks took care of just that, fleas and ticks. As they say, âitâs complicatedâ! As a pet owner, I feel like Iâve let them down. Believe it or not, I never saw a flea on my dog, it was found on the indoor cat that never goes outside! My dog is a dachshund/beagle mix so he has a smooth, very dense, tight double undercoat of brown black fur to hide in, but the cat⦠he has a fine coat of light ginger colored fur so it couldnât hide and got caught âsneakingâ about.Long story short, after a quick call to the vet, all the pets needed capstar administered which would kill fleas immediately BUT not the eggs. Unfortunately, we are talking about giving reluctant 20lb male cats a pill they would rather not have. With one dog and 4 cats in tow we headed to the vet to have the âflea killerâ pill administered. Meanwhile, pest control came to bomb the house & spray the yard while on our little day trip to the vet. The next step was washing/sanitizing all beddings & linen and vacuuming the floors with the dog bath last. Since I was already familiar with the Veterinary Formula product line and it being paraben free and no skin reactions on the dog, I ordered their Flea & Tick shampoo. The 16oz bottle guarantees lâll get more than a couple of baths out of it. I also needed to strike a balance of a reliable brand that was effective in killing fleas, was not harmful or irritate my dogâs sensitivities, and was affordable. This was it. I needed it to kill any adult stragglers, immature fleas or newly hatched fleas that the pill did not. My first âsniffâ impression is the shampoo does NOT have a strong chemical odor, but more of a mild citrusy scent (better than what I was expecting). It does a great job of lathering up making it easy to work into the undercoat and reach any fleas living there. There was no skin irritation, burning, or allergy to using the shampoo and it left no residue. It felt more like a sudsy conditioner. I waited closer to 8 minutes before rinsing out the shampoo. That stuff is fantastic! Oh-kay, he didnât smell as sweet as his oatmeal shampoo BUT⦠he had âsalon softâ and silky fur! Itâs actually better than the conditioner I have been using. As for fleas? I may have seen a spec or two in the bathtub. In all likelihood, the dog was used as a flea taxi into the house & cats. Up until now, the indoor cats were not on any flea prevention, but that has changed as well as getting flea combed. As they say, âwhere there is one, there is manyâ. While the shampoo was effective in killing & removing current fleas on Lucky Lou, it had to be used in conjunction with the other flea prevention treatments above to get ahead of the flea-eggs crazy life-cycle. A second flea bath was given 10 days out as a precaution. Did you know one flea can lay 50 eggs? Worse, one female flea in 60 days can leave you with 20,000 if not treated. -The constant spray, wash, vacuum, of carpet, bedding & linens and the once monthly flea oral & topical treatments now has house & pets âflea-freeâ for 82 days! Iâm also pretty sure the cooler weather has helped to control the yard population as well as planting plenty of mint about. Overall, 5 stars! Neither dog nor cats have fleas! This is my grail of flea shampoo!

Quick Acting and Effective
I followed the bottle directions exactly, including waiting 5 minutes before rinsing and then leaving damp in a towel for a while prior to drying. Not only did it kill every flea on site (I did have to use a flea comb to pull the dead out while I had her swaddled but this is likely due to my cats fur type) but it also left her with a fresh, clean and fluffy coat. Smells nice, not chemical-ly, and did not irritate my catâs skin. Best of luck to everyone with this issue and who has to wrestle a cat into the bath.

Worked for me
I used the shampoo on all 3 of my fur babies and it worked like magic. I didn’t notice a smell from the shampoo and it lathered really nice. It’s been a few days and I haven’t noticed any irritation to skin and no signs of new fleas.

Yet again not worth the money
I gave my dogs a bath with this flea and tick shampoo. It doesn’t smell great but it isn’t bad, can/could lice with the smell. It was very thin and it didn’t lather up at all. I don’t know if the water just washed the fleas off or if the shampoo worked. If it worked it didn’t last long. The next day they were digging themselves again. I know you are asking ” did you wash the dogs bedding and clean your carpets??”The answer is yes washed bedding, don’t have carpets.The shampoo is not working or worth the money!

Amazing get it and also the spray
This product is amazing. Iâm actually very surprised on how well it worked almost immediately. My dog was in contact with another dog that was infested with fleas and one bath. Is not itchy it has a nice fresh smell not like heavy perfume just clean I love it I donât think I will use anything els.

I operate an FeLV positive cat sanctuary. We’re independently funded which means that a flea infestation can become quite expensive! Since I also care for a feral colony of about 30, fleas are a huge part of our lives. I was hesitant to purchase this product because we’ve tried everything in the past and nothing has really worked. We gave each of our FeLV positive cats a capstar pill, then we bathed each of them with this shampoo, sprayed our home with an indoor product and this morning I don’t have thirty fleas jumping on me, my cats are all happy and not itching. I will by buying this again ! Thank you for making an amazing product.

Works!
Easy to spray on and the fleas instantly stop in their tracks. I used this with a flea comb to remove them from my pup. However, it didn’t kill them but I have to say I used the spray sparingly. Once I had them in the sink, I squashed them dead. They are resilient!
