another reliable product from ruffwear
Another great product from Ruffwear! very lightweight and easy to adjust harness making it perfect for hikes and outdoor activities. i feel that a lot of the less-than-satisfied reviews are from consumers unfamiliar with the brand and how this harness was focused on being minimal/lightweight therefore people calling it “flimsy” or “cheap”. I also felt the sizing was accurate and didn’t have any problems adjusting the harness to size. At first i did think maybe it was too small but after some tinkering i realized it came packaged with the excess strap material tucked into the harness making it look like it was completely maxed out at first. we haven’t tested it in the lake yet but I’m sure it will be quick-drying. both front and back leash attachment points seems to be sturdy. I was skeptical of the front attachment point because the pictures make it look thin. I was pleased to discover that it’s a pretty thick piece of nylon with reinforced stitching. the only thing i didn’t care for was the strap color on the specific harness I purchased it’s more of a “salmon pink” than a “coral red” but Scout rocks it anyways lolTLDR: great sturdy lightweight harness, sizing was accurate, color description on this product could have been a bit more clear on the accent/strap colors.

lightweight version of ruffwear harness
This is our third Ruffwear harness, one extra small when he was four months old, then size small, a heavier duty version, great for cold weather, and now this one, a lighter weight version great for summer. The harness is easy to put on, the front loop goes over the head, bottom piece between front legs, and the just attach the left and right bands into the holders at the top; to remove, just pop the two holders, and it goes over the head. This harness provides good distribution of force, so the dog can pull hard without causing harm, and it doesn’t restrict movement. The size small we have is fitting a dog 28 pounds, and could be tightened or loosened compared to how it is now set. These harnesses cost more than some that are available, but the quality of material and design is worth it.

Light and Durable
I’ve been looking for a harness for my English Cocker that wasn’t too heavy. It’s been a hot and humid summer and I wanted something that wouldn’t make her hotter and dries quickly. The small fits her perfectly and the bright color makes her stand out when she’s off leash and we walk the trails.

My dog really dislikes harnesses. Minute she sees a harness coming her way its head down, tail tucked, trying to turn away, the whole ordeal. Thankfully I have no reason or need to use a harness, but Iâd love for her to at least be neutral towards them and not to hate them so much.Going by the size chart I got a medium, and I did have to do a couple double checks on the sizing and if it matched what I ordered when it arrived. It seemed super tiny! But once I had adjusted it to near its longest length it was all good, fit as it should with my dog being right at or just under the maximum girth for the size. VERY lightweight, which was just what we needed. She even took a 3 hour nap after I put it on the first time just to adjust it, had me in a tiny bit of joyful shock tbh.Thereâs the classic loop for a light attachment on top, which is right below a tiny velcro pouch flat against the top, then the buckle at the very back. I really like the buckle, it seems very sturdy. and the velcro pouch could hold something very small I guess, wouldnât fit anything I need so I don’t see myself using it. Maybe iâll put a 20 in there to forget about and then be excited when I find it again.Where a front buckle would usually be itâs just a thinnish loop of rope, not like the buckle at all, so you’re out of luck if youâre someone who relies on that to âstop your dog from pullingâ(remember that it actually only physically does, it doesn’t teach them to stop pulling! When my dog finally got loose leash walking it was such a breath of fresh air, took months though. Worth it.)I havenât used it a lot or often, so I canât speak on the durability just yet. I mostly just put it on so she can start to be more comfortable with having a harness on, and I donât clip the leash to the harness but to her collar like usual(except for long lines, because its always getting tangled under her legs lol).Is this a harness iâd trust her to fling her full weight against without me worrying itâll break? no, not really. the actual harness part is very small, and then the rest is just the adjustment belt. Since she was so close to the maximum girth size, itâs more of the adjustment belt rope than actual harness, which is part of why iâd be uneasy about excessive force against it on her part. Not saying it would instantly tear off of her like the Hulkâs clothes, but I can see the buckle giving up after a few full weight lunges.Overall, itâs ruffwear. Youâre getting quality whatever harness type you choose from them. This harness, in my opinion, seems best for dogs on the smaller size, big dogs that would never throw their whole weight against it, or for dogs who dislike harnesses who need to start with a lightweight harness.Here are her stats in case it will help around: sheâs around around 80lbs, 31âgirth, 19â around the shoulders, 25â AT the shoulder, 25â back(base of neck to base of tail).

Overall this is a quality harness that I would purchase again. In order to have the harness tight enough for my pup, but loose enough to get her head through, it is a bit awkward. A bit snug getting on and off and then slightly loose for wearability. I don’t adjust it every time as that process is time consuming. It seems to be comfortable though, made very well with quality materials. Slightly pricey. I love that there is a little pocket on top for waste disposal bags
