Perfect cage for rats, and other small friends
Love this cage. This is the second one I’ve purchased for my rats. The first one I purchased was for my first rat, 3 years ago, only reason I had to replace it was because I had a chewer in there and he managed to strip the coating after a year or so, which is great considering the damage chewy rats can do. This time I got the wider version as I needed to house 3 males, it’s perfect for them. Spacious for toys and huts and space pods galore.Love that this cage comes apart for cleaning, and folds down compactly to be stored in our small apartment with ease. A tiny bit wobbly, but it holds together and none of my rats over the years have escaped. If you want to be extra sure you can always zip tie some of the edges together.Overall I would recommend this cage to anyone with small pets. Only suggestion I might have is to remove the bottom grate, possibly cover the levels with fabric or tile of some kind, as the bare bars can sometimes create issues with their feet.Great cage for the price ð

DON’T LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS!
When I ordered this cage for my baby flying squirrel I was very questionable about it, and almost didn’t get it. Most reviews are for pet rats, and as you can see, my baby flyer in much smaller. The other reviews mentioned that the cage had large gaps that they had to zip tie together, and that it was flimsy, and so on, but since it was the best I could afford on short notice, I took a chance on it anyways, and I’m SO glad I did!The cage is very sturdy, the wire is bendable, but I believe it takes more force than any animal that it would be used for could put into it.It’s a good size cage for the price (I got the smaller one), and my flyer loves the levels in it. I did cut up a shirt for them just so she wasn’t on the wire all the time, and left the bottom uncovered for easy cleaning. Which is a breeze with the pull out tray.The wire spacing is fine. There is a SLIGHTLY larger gap under the doors and on the top where it clicks together, which I tried to show in the video by sticking my finger in as a rough measurement, but my flyer is roughly the size of a small hamster and there’s no way she can get out of it, so I don’t think rats or anything else could either.Almost every review said that I would need zip ties for it, so I bought a bag with the cage, but ended up not even needing them! I did use some to tie the wheel and Pringle can to the cage just to keep them in place (and so I didn’t waste my money lol).This is an amazing cage, especially for the price. And I would highly suggest it to anyone who is thinking about getting it. DON’T LET THE OTHER REVIEWS SCARE YOU AWAY from giving this cage a try like they almost did me!Hope this helps someone.If at any time my opinion changes on the cage for some reason I’ll write another review, but I don’t think I’ll need to!

Decent, but bottom portion very poorly designed
Overall this is a good cage. It is a great size for the price and my hammy is happy with the upgrade. The bottom seems like it will be super easy to clean, as you can just pull it out from under. I do have some complaints, however. First, the bottom tray and portion is very poorly designed; the sides should be higher because there is already bedding everywhere and although it hasnât happened yet I am prepared for my hammy to pee all over the dresser that the cage is sitting on. I have cardboard underneath the cage right now until I can buy some sort of bin to set around it to catch the bedding, etc. The tray also came bent a bit on the one side so I am using two boxes of matches (see picture) to make sure it is not too open for him to get out. Second, I am not using the bottom grate that is supposed to go over the tray, because it sits so high above the bottom tray that my hammy will not be able to burrow into bedding unless I make the bedding very high, which is not possible because the sides of the bottom tray donât come up far enough. My final complaint is that the cutouts for the ladders and levels are a bit big for him and his feet do fall through a bit, but Iâm sure it could be fixed by putting some sort of solid surface underneath them, but that is more work. I saw in one review somebody used cut-up placemats, I am just scared he will chew and eat them. Overall I am happy with the cage but I am a bit paranoid he may escape, and Iâm not too thrilled about the idea of bedding being everywhere.

Why I returned it/ NOT RAT FRIENDLY
This cage is not right friendly. I don’t care what anybody else on here says. I took this thing out of the box and it was very easy to put together so one star for that. However once it was put together you could definitely see there were many many many many many many many weak points. I read the reviews and was anticipating this and purchased some wire and some tie-downs and some zip ties and things to prepare for this. What I wasn’t prepared for was how the whole thing was one big weak spot!! The biggest one being at the bottom. If you are using this for rats you don’t want to use the wire grading at the bottom. If you omit the wire grading the bottom tray sticks out about an inch basically providing a tunnel for the rat to crawl under and out of. The corners are uneven, even once you get the shelves in. The wire spacing is still a little too big. At least for juvenile rats. It might be fine for adults but I still doubt it.. not to mention that mine was already worn around the tabs meaning I got one that somebody had returned. Judging by the way the box was taped together I’m almost certain of that. But that wouldn’t bother me. What bothered me is that even though people said that it was something that I would have to rig, I absolutely did not anticipate that I would have to rig it almost 100%. Highly highly disappointed. I’m giving this product three stars because the price was decent the assembly was easy and the shipping was accurate. 1 * for each. This is probably an awesome cage for other animals. But not rats I’m sorry I just would not trust a rat to this cage.
