Thin shell, healthy treat. Dwarf hamster, Henry approved!ð¹
I bought these Krunch-A-Rounds for our picky dwarf hamster named Henry. I was having a hard time finding healthy treats &chews that my hamster would like while still being a healthy option. I thought these krunch arounds looked like something he could grind his teeth on at first, which was my primary reason for ordering them, along with the fact they have few ingredients and seemed healthy. These are not very hard like I thought, and will not help with teeth grinding, fyi. They actually have a really thin crunchy shell around a peanut. Probably why they’re named Krunch-A-Rounds. Lol… So, although they’re not going to help with his teeth grinding, they’re a really healthy option to have just as a treat, and I am happy about that because I don’t want to only have hard chews that take up a lot of the daily food intake, but are important, or just supplements like dehydrated mealworms that can make them fat if fed too many. It’s good to have some simple small treats to be able to give more often, as well. After researching food and treats specifically for a dwarf hamster after picking him out, I learned that some of the treats that I originally bought preparing for a hamster were not healthy and most were way too sugary, especially for a dwarf hamsters in any of the different species (Campbell’s, Winter Whites, etc.), because they are prone to diabetes. Fruit can even be too sugary for them. I learned the yogurt drops and similar treats aren’t great for any hamster, and of course I had already bought a couple different flavors and types of treats in these categories that I now couldn’t use, so I started looking for healthy treats that Henry would like. I thought I went crazy buying stuff before getting him, but probably went a bit crazier getting A LOT of different healthier treats & chews after getting him, loving him, & researching more, along with realizing that he is a picky hamster that doesn’t care to chew on any of his wooden toys, furniture, apple sticks, alfalfa sticks, etc, which he needs to do to grind down his ever growing teeth. I mean he doesn’t touch anything that isn’t food, PERIOD! This is very important. If your hamster is like Henry and isn’t chewing on their toys, furniture, or accessories made for chewing, you have to find a hard treats that they will like enough to chew. Their teeth never stop growing and if they don’t grind them down it can cause health problems, along with them having trouble eating with their overgrown teeth, which can lead to death if you don’t take them to a vet to get trimmed. I definitely didn’t want a vet bill or for Henry to go through all of that, so I researched and definitely spent more than I should buying healthy options I hoped he’d like. It was hard not to get the stuff tho, because feeding your hamster treats is one of the best ways to bond with them, and I do not regret a thing. I look forward to feeding him treats probably almost as much as he looks forward to eating them. You can give one of these a few times a week if this is the main treat you have. Maybe even every other day. If you have other treats you give, you can switch things up, meaning giving one kind of treat every other day. (With an exception here or there). I will still sometimes give one of these or a different small treat if I gave him only a couple of seeds or dehydrated mealworms that day, but not often. &I don’t give him seeds or mealworms everyday. I do give him a couple seeds & a couple dehydrated mealworms 2 to 3 times a week. If I’m giving him a larger chew for grinding his teeth, I will not give him other treats that day, because he will go to town on his larger chews, and it’ll take up too much of his daily intake. I only give the larger chews about once a week. These do come in a much smaller bag compared to some of the treats, but they’re not too expensive for a healthy treat, and have actually lasted us awhile. We still have a pretty full bag because we don’t give a lot of treats or chews at once. He won’t eat his pellet food and get all of his daily nutrients getting too many treats a day/week. I’m thankful to have found them because they’re a quick and easy treat to give, and are pretty healthy compared to most. My 9yr old daughter almost always chooses these to give. They’re her favorite. I also like that they come with a ziploc seal, which is great for freshness and storing. Most of the treats do, but not all. At first, it’s hard to zip these closed because it is completely full! Henry definitely likes these, but I didn’t think he did at first. At first, he just chewed the thin crunch off of the top and left it there for a day, which he does not do with treats he likes. I’m glad my daughter likes giving them or it may have taken me awhile to realize that he actually really likes these. Not as much as his mealworms, but they’re catching up to his seeds. He’s picky tho, so it took him getting that peanut ate to realize how good these are. A piece of a Buddy Biscuit or a Whimzee chew is his favorite hard chew for grinding his teeth. He goes crazy for them both. These two are made for dogs, but hamster pro’s recommend them if your hamster won’t chew on toys, sticks, funriture, accessories, etc. I know there’s a lot of info here, but it took me too long and cost me a lot of wasted money before discovering a lot of this information, so I just wanted to pass it on and hope my pictures and experience helps you in some way.

According to Stewie…
Stewie, my rabbit, at first was hesitant. However, now he loves these treats! Whenever he hears the bag and can smell them he starts trying to take them from my hand before I’m ready to give them to him. Definitely Stewie approved!

Neutral
Here nor there with these treats. Itâs really just whether your rabbit will like them or not. Mine did not initially, but she eventually decided she liked them.
