works well if you pin it
As other reviews note, the adhesive on this is light (which in my opinion is a good thing — if it were terribly heavy, it would leave a mark on the upholstery when removed. The whole idea is to protect the upholstery). It might stick tightly to vinyl or leather, but not to fabric. But, the adhesive is helpful in holding the mat down while you pin it securely to the furniture. First, I cut a piece to generously cover the claw marks, and rounded the edges — good fabric shears are sufficient to cut it. I first tried upholstery screw tacks — this material is too tough to make those practical, so I got t-pins that I placed pointing in different directions to secure them better. I put one every couple of inches or so, with extras down the middle where the mat curves around the frame. You could probably also use safety or quilt pins, though they would be more obtrusive. Voila — it stays put, despite my cat’s best efforts. The gray color actually goes with the chair color, so it is not too unattractive. There is a generous amount on the roll, enough for a couple of pieces of furniture.

Great adhesion
Almost too sticky. Very easy to size/cut with regular scissors. I’ll probably buy another roll!

Adhesive issues
Previously I bought very similar scratch mats the worked great, but they were already pre cut and I wanted to be able to just cut off my own size so I got this instead.I donât like complaining so this is tough. The adhesive is not great, especially if you want to use it in your couch or similar material. It sticks well to smooth surfaces, however the scratch mat separates from the foam part and then is useless. When that happens, itâs not easy to remove the rest.Unfortunately I would suggest looking at other versions or brands for this product. It is a great item when it works well, especially for couches and anywhere you donât want ruined by your cat scratching- but you just need it to actually stick.

Easy to install has a problem staying
It was easy to cut and fit. But it doesn’t stick as well as it should had to keep sticking it back on to the furniture.

Kinda stickyâ¦
Okay, it might just be that itâs not designed for how I used it. Wanted my cat to not scratch my leather headboard, so I put it around the top and sides. It wonât stay on it though and whole chunks pealed off. Again, could be me and what Iâm applying it to, but if you want it to stick to leather, it doesnât.

Great for protecting the hard plastics in the back of my 4 Runner
One thing I can never understand is why auto manufacturers use hard plastics in the back of SUV’s. Your obviously going to haul stuff in the back and everything scratches hard plastic. I used this material to cover the areas in the back of my 4 Runner, like the inside of the rear hatch to prevent damage to it. You can also add this to slick surfaces like the top of my toolbox to keep things from sliding off. This material is easy to cut and then you just peal and stick. I did something similar to the inside of my previous vehicle (Honda Pilot) and when it came time to sell it, I just peeled it off cleaned up the plastic and the inside looked like new with 200K on the clock. This allowed me to get top dollar for my used pilot so it’s worth keeping the inside looking good.

Easy to apply, quality product.
My rotten cats have plenty of scratching posts. Do they use them? Why would they when there’s a perfectly good couch to terrorize? I mean ..at least let me pay it off before you ruin it, eh? Our living room is kind of dark and I have the eyesight of Mr. Magoo, so it took awhile before I noticed how bad it was. Thought I’d give this stuff a go and I’m really happy with the results. Cuts easily and neatly and the adhesive seems good so far. Is it the same shade as my couch? Eh ..not really, but my son says it’s the equivalent of professors who wear jackets with fancy elbow patches. Just enough of a difference to fool others into thinking it’s intentional. We’ll see how long this lasts, but it will probably be forever because my stuck-up cats wouldn’t dare use something for its intended purpose. Bottom line…well worth the money.

Doesn’t adhere very well
It looks nice and was easy to apply but it doesn’t adhere to fabric very well. We applied it to our sofa arms where the cats scratch most frequently and its peeling away constantly. So far it’s holding up against the clawing but needs a stronger adhesive.
