    You Deserve Good (Small-Dog) Advice
If you own a small dog, you need special training instructions….My 10# dog went to 2 years of generic dog obedience classes. The labs, collies, and even larger mutts surpassed by dog with ease! I even repeated classes to be sure my dog got the basic foundation. I was frustrated. I never owned a small dog before, I always owned labs which were easy to train. I volunteered at a dog show one day and a small dog participant recommended this book. This was the AH-HA moment!!!! Enjoy training your pocket pal and build a wonderful relationship!(P.S: Small dogs thrive learning tricks. Simple tricks bring rapid success. I found Sophie likes to do tricks to break up the tedious obedience training..)

The Go To Book for Small Dog Obedience Training!
This is THE book for learning how to train small dogs! Great book with lots of good tips by both authors who both have small dogs with multiple obedience titles. It is different training a small dog vs. a large dog and this is the book to help you out! I highly recommend it. I wish I had had this book sooner as I started training my small dog for competitive obedience.

If you enjoy the Obedience Ring…
then pick up this book for you and your little companion. Barbara has had many trials and tribulations with her own dogs which she has chosen to share with us. The hints given are tried and true. Over the years there have been others who have mimicked Ms. Cecil but this is THE FOUNDATION for your toy/small dog with lasting results.

    just what I needed
Got my first Toy breed, coincidentally a Papillon, and it’s a whole new world of training after starting with Alaskan Malamutes. Paps are so SHORT!!! This is helping me make the transition so hopefully my dog and I will enjoy great success in the obedience ring.

    Three Stars
Not as informative as I expected.

Great advice, given with a sense of humor
Already had this book but left it elsewhere. Good enough to get a second copy. Lots of great advice for working with tiny dogs, smallest dog I’ve ever owned. Looking forward to putting the practice into competition.

    Great help for training lowriders
This is an excellent book that focuses on the challenges faced by people training short dogs. We have Cardigan Welsh Corgis which are not “small”, but are short. Easy to read, very practical.

    Not your average obedience book
Having a smaller dog to train competively, I was looking for additional hints and helps. This book lets you see training thru a small dogs viewpoint. It had many suggestions and training methods not found in other training methods.

Really good book with some good tips, I especially liked the tips on the footwork. Classes train the dog but they don’t train the person and these helped me out immensely.
