I can easily pick up my old 28lb dog with the handle. He is mostly blind and walked right off a dock once and sunk like a rock. This will definitely keep him safe. Looking forward to trying it out soon at the river.

We ordered this for our 4 month old dachshund mix puppy. It is a little big on him right now, he is 12 pounds, but we expect it to fit him perfectly by 6 months of age. We have a pool and he loves to come in the pool with us so we really wanted to get him a life vest. The vest is made of a nylon material with standard foam inside just like normal childrenâs swim vests. It goes on quick and easy and the puppy does not wearing it at all. He is used to wearing a harness for walking on a leash and I think this helped him adapt to the swim vest much easier. The vest is well made, nice durable material and straps and seems like it will hold up very well. We do have very harsh Texas sun so we hang it on a covered porch out of the sun when not in use. Very happy with the swim vest.

The construction of this product is very good. The design is poor in terms of comfort for my dog. It is very stiff and restricts movement. The sizing was a challenge as the neck, girth and back dimensions did not provide a ratio that matched my dog. I will have to look for another flotation vest that fits my dog and provides the flexibility and comfort needed to wear and move around in a boat.
