A decent item
Overall this is built better than I expected, it would be very beneficial if it was about 6 in longer as you have to bend down to use it. I’m only 5 10 and I find that I have to bend over a bit in order to use it for correcting the dog. I do not use this as a striking tool, but rather when I am walking both my dogs, the outside dog tends to want to push the other dog towards me and I use the stick to nudge a light pressure on his shoulder and get his attention to move to the side. So it’s more of a guiding stick and for that purpose it works pretty good, it would really be good for somebody who’s 5 6 and under this would probably work very well. Just to experiment, I slapped the palm of my hand with it so I knew what to expect, and it does leave quite a stinging behind LOL I do not believe in using something like this to strike the dogs, I use it as a push guide and it works good

Im training my puppyand he has a lot of energy and he is a sweet little guy.I like this crop cause all l have to do is show it to him and it gets his attention. If he gets too playful l can tap him with it and ge refocuses.Please tap it on your palm or the back ofyoyr hand so you know to use it gently if used for contactvwith your pet.The rubber hand has weight so it can sting so please test it first.My cat loves it he thinks it’s a toy.

Perfect for testing/evaluating during dog intakes
I volunteer at the local animal shelter and we often evaluate dogs that are being surrendered to ensure they are a good candidate and safe to take into a shelter environment. There are a list of “tests” we perform to determine the reactivity and personality of the frightened dog and one of them is to use a fake hand. This has a long enough handle that we can safely push or pull a food bowl near them, watch their reaction to the hand coming near them, touching them lightly on different parts of their body, etc. I would prefer if the “hand” portion was bigger and looked a little more like a human hand but it still comes in very handy during our evaluations. I can’t imagine it would last long if anyone allowed their dog to chew on it, but that’s not what it’s made for.
