Tough Little Skwerls
I bought these at the same time as I bought the Kyjen Hide-A-Squirel toy as I have 3 dogs and I figured at least one of the squirrels would get lost pretty quick leaving the dogs to squabble over the other two reamining squirrels. Ironically, all three of these squirrels are still present and accounted for though they are showing a bit of wear at this point. They are also covered with dog spit but as they are dog toys that is to be expected.I have 2 medium sized dogs and one huge dog. Two of the dogs play with these toys EVERY DAY and after almost 3 months they squirrels are just now starting to show noticeable wear. My dogs love to dissect their toys and remove the squeaker. If I am on the ball I find the squeaker and tie it up in a couple of pairs of old socks and return it to the dogs. This solves two problems: 1. The dogs are unable to injest the squeker and 2. I no longer feel obligated to try to find the mates to those socks. The dogs also love the squeaky sock toys and wiill still play with the squeakerless squirrel toy carcasses so this is truly a win-win situation. At this point, 2 of the 6 total squirrels I ordered are sans squeaker. Three out of the six are showing any real wear. One out of the six total looks like new, probably because it has been under the dresser for the past two months. So, these squirrels are smart as well, or at least one out of six is of above average intelligence. Well played, Kyjen, well played. These toys and the Kyjen Hide-A-Squirrel toy were all a big hit with my dogs, even with the dog that could care less about them because when I throw a squirrel for the other dogs to fetch, the dog who doesn’t play with the toys chases the dogs that are running after the toy and screws with the slower dog by latching onto one of his hind legs and making him fall down. So, these toys entertain the dogs that actually play with them, the dog that couldn’t care less about them, and me. That’s getting the most possible bang for your buck right there! This is the first time I bought any of Kyjen’s products and I would absolutely buy Kyjen products again as well as reccomend them to my dog-owning friends. These are awesome toys. Yes, the squirrels are on the small side but I was expecting that as I actually took the time to read the product description before I ordered them. My dogs do not care that the squirrels are kind of small and I don’t believe that the size of the toys has any impact on their durability or function. These are awesome dog toys. If you don’t get them for your dogs you are not a fun person and it’s highly likely that your dog pees on you as you sleep. I sure would. I mean I would if I were your dogs.Buy the damn toys already!*HERE’S MY REVIEW OF THE KYJEN HIDE-A-SQUIRREL TOY*This review is from: Kyjen PP01056 Hide-A-Squirrel Pet Toy, LargeI have 2 medium sized dogs and one giant dog and two of them love these toys. The other one likes to play with other dogs much more than she does dog toys so I’m not really surprised that she isn’t that into them. The wierd dog and the giant dog LOVE these toys and play with them daily. They have taken both the squirrels and the “tree trunk” outside, played tug-of-war with them and even buried them and the toys are still looking pretty good after a couple of months of rough, frequent play. Two of the squirrels are now without their squeakers as the giant dog loves to dissect them and remove the squeakers. This isn’t a problem, I actually expected he would have removed all of the squeakers by now and I bought three additional squirrels because I really expected these toys to wear out much more quickly. I’m pleasantly surprised at how well they are hanging in there. Of the six squirrels I ordered five are present and accounted for and the dogs play with all of them, even the ones giant dog has disemboweled.Yes, the squirrels are on the small side. I was not surprised by this as I took the time to read the complete product description. I don’t know how well other larger dogs would like these toys, my giant dog is touched in the head but very smart and he loves them despite the size.I have never ordered Kyjen products before ordering this Hide-A-Squirrel toy and the replacement toys and I am thrilled that the toys are of such good qulaity and that my dogs are getting lots of “play” out of them. Even the one dog that doesn’t like toys that much is entertained by them as she likes to chase the dogs that are playing with the toys and try to chew their legs off as they run. All my dogs are entertained and entertained dogs are dogs that are not running all over the neighborhood humping everything in sight or chewing holes in my socks.I would absolutely order Kyjen products again and I would order from this seller again. My items arrived one day before they were due and were packed appropriately. I would also reccommend both Kyjen and this seller to other dog owners and have already told my sister about these toys and how awesome they are.If I could give this product and this seller more than five stars I so would!

Train âem young!
These squirrels are a bit smaller than the real ones outside, but a perfect size for our mini dachshund puppy! The small trunk is very tiny but very cute and makes for a great fourth toy. Our pup hasnât quite gotten the hang of getting the squirrels out but her nose fits in the holes pretty well. She loves it! No smell, seems easy to wash in a machine, and a soft toy for teething.

Squirrels are EVERYWHERE!!!
But I don’t even MIND that I find the six squirrels that stuff the ginormous version of this toy ALL over the house–or outside. I bought this a few weeks ago for our almost four month old German Shorthaired Pointer puppy. She LOVES it–and in a house FULL of dog toys (I mean–it really IS ridiculous) she goes back to this one over and over. She really likes when I play with her with the toy–squeaking the squirrels and then throwing them so she can fetch them. Sometimes she brings them back–even mastering carrying two at a time, which I thought impressive–or sometimes she wants to play keep away. It’s great that you can stuff the plush tree trunk over and over and over–and put other toys or a treat or two in there besides. I haven’t had to wash it yet, but I think it will hold up well. I like that you can get replacement squirrels too–the first couple of days two of the six squirrels went missing–but they resurfaced. I bought the Ginormous size because more is—well, more. I liked that it came with six squirrels (so it wouldn’t matter so much if she tore up or lost a couple of them)and the larger one was only a few dollars more than the next size down and had twice as many squirrels. It was less than $18 at this writing and qualified for Amazon PRIME shipping (almost immediate gratification.) Normally I buy plush toys for the dog at yard sales for a buck or two–but I’d purchase this toy again without hesitation. If I had to pinpoint one concern it might be that the squirrels are not very big. It’s fine right now, but when she’s a bigger dog–they look like she could swallow one. But I am trusting that the dog toy design people have considered this potential hazard. Also, one of the squirrels now makes a slightly weak squeak compared to the others, but almost NO squeaky toy can stand up to vigorous chewing forever. And if they all quit working I can just buy more squirrels! I shot a short video of my puppy playing with this toy. The footage doesn’t do the toy justice. It’s 97 degrees outside right now and neither the dog nor I feel like running around in THAT heat. But I’m going to try to include the footage because she does the typical animal shake with it. And she’s beautiful. Get this toy. I highly recommend it.update: 03/28/2013–Dog is a year old now. We still have this toy and the squirrels–largely intact. A month ago she did rip a tear between two of the holes in the plush tree trunk. However, a needle and thread fixed it. I’ve looked back at some of the negative reviews about how this toy didn’t last 10 minutes with certain dogs. My dog is a bird dog and is, of course, supposed to bring you game that is in unmarked condition so you can eat it. She DOES occasionally tear up toys (most often, the toys she destroys are specifically “Dog toys” that were supposedly designed FOR Dogs. The squirrel toy is still going strong (after I fixed the tear–mainly so that it didn’t invite her to make it bigger.) Let’s face it–SOME dogs tear ANYTHING up–and I feel for you if your dog is one of those. We had a playdate with a friend’s German Shepherd this morning, and not only did that dog take my dog’s new tennis ball (oh, yeah, one of those designed FOR dogs–with cute little paw prints on it) and then just SIT on it so no one could throw it/chase it any longer–she also then proceeded to chew it in half. Again–the DOG-specific tennis ball did NOT hold up like a regular tennis ball. No biggie–we have hundreds of tennis balls. But that dog had some amazing jaws. Know your dog and make your purchases accordingly. I think the interest factor of this toy (toys within toy) keeps her coming back. I’ll put it for a few weeks and then get it back out and she loves it all over again.

Fun and sturdy.
My 14 year old dachshund doesn’t play with toys much anymore. She tears a new one apart and then abandons it. But this toy has lasted and she keeps returning to it. She likes pulling the little chipmunks out of their holes in the log and then chews on them. And they are still intact, which is not true of many toys. Also, there is not too much stuffing that gets thrown around the house. Overall a great impulse purchase.

Not super strong
The squirrels and the tree stump were so cute and fun, for awhile. My dog’s goal is to shred every toy. The stuffing was pulled out pretty quick out if the tree stump. Squirrels ears are gone. But they are still usable. I tend to try to sew things a few times before throwing them away. They are a good size and I think with other dogs they’d last longer, just not with mine. Good price though.

Durable and well loved
My dog immediately loved this toy upon opening. It’s very durable (both fabric and squeaker). I’ve washed it 1x and it came out brand new! I would highly recommend.
