Before ordering this product, I read many reviews, and was puzzled by the difference in reviews. It seemed that not everyone was getting the same product. Most seemed to really like it, but several complained that water spilled everywhere. Others loved it. How could it be that for some water spilled and for others it did not.I may have an answer and a solution, I received the large model two days ago, and was shocked to find the 3 pieces of the valve in the reservoir! The valve consists of a spring, a plus-sign shaped piece that goes inside the spring, and a tiny rubber piece that holds it in place. These 3 pieces were not in any packaging, but loose inside the reservoir. I couldn’t imagine that this was the way it was supposed to be! I read the reviews again, looking for any clue that others had experienced this. Because I am totally blind, it was a bit more difficult to read the one glossy paper that was also inside the reservoir. I scanned it in, but there were no instructions for assembling the valve.The following day I called the company, and spoke to a very nice manager. He talked me through reassembling the valve, and promised to send me a new lid. After talking to him for a while, I realized that there was an extra hole in the lid I received. Even with the valve in place, and the hole that stays closed if not using a filter, there was a center hole, with a raised arrow next to it. The customer service manager was confused by my description, as he owns two of these dishes. He insisted that there should only be two holes, not three. I took a picture of my lid, using my iPhone, and emailed it to him. It turns out that the center hole with the raised arrow said something like “plug if not using filter”. Those instructions should have been for another hole that had a cap that would open and close.Today, I received the new lid from Pet Safe. It is indeed different from the one from Amazon. It fits perfectly, valve came intact, and it has only two holes, one for the valve, and the second one to be left open, if using a filter. On the original one, the extra hole was in the center, where the filter hole is on the correct lid. I will try to take and post pictures of each of them, and post with this review.So, it seems that the reseller is not always including the correct lid with this product. If anyone else has experienced this problem, please call Pet Safe, and request a new lid. They are very nice, and sent me my replacement, for no charge, with Fedex overnight.But, ultimately, the problem must be resolved by Amazon, and the reseller. It is horrible for Pet Safe to be blamed for a faulty product, when actually someone else is sending out the product with the wrong lid. The one I received from Amazon, could not, work. This product seems to be working just fine, and if the valve gets stuck, as some have reported, keeping water from flowing properly, it will be easy to take the valve out and readjust the spring.

Good concept
I purchased this with the food PetSafe Healthy Pet Water Station. Easy assembly and very straight forward. The design is nice. I thought I was ordering a larger size because when it came in, It was a little too small for my wiener dogs for long use, but it will do for now (they are just puppies). However…The water station is very nice. What I love about the water station is the thick white water dispenser. And the removable metal bowl on the base. I will probably order the larger sizes as my pups get bigger.

Nice product, but I had to deduct one star. I’ve never experienced such a large mount of water around a water bowl after the dog drinks. Our dog is big and she’s a pretty messy drinker – can’t fault the dog waterer for that. BUT I think the problem is worse due to the design of this dog waterer. The bowl isn’t very large around or very tall on the sides, and it self-fills too close to the top of the bowl… so when the big dog laps water it splashes out of the bowl. With a regular large bowl you could just not fill it as deep and you’d have more sides and round area to catch the mess before it leaves the bowl, if that makes sense. With this waterer, the messes are pretty extreme. We had to get a big XXL silicone mat to catch all the mess and keep it off the floor, but we go through a lot of paper towels sopping up the mess on the mat.PROS:Easy to clean stainless insertNice sturdy handle on the water reservoirCan remove the water reservoir from the base without leaksCONS:Stainless steel bowl liner is very thin gauge / flimsyBowl seems to fill too close to the top so it’s very messyNo instructions providedWater reservoir may be too tall to fill in some kitchen sinks

This thing works great as a high capacity water fountain for my 2 cats. It’s big, fairly easy to clean (as i can put most of it in the dishwasher), and the cats like drinking out of it.The one issue to be aware of is that when your pet drinks enough water that the valve starts to fill the bowl with more water, it makes this fairly noticeable noise. It seems like it’s just from the air moving into the water container, but it does this ORGLE-BORGLE-WORGLE noise that the cats definitely notice. It kinda sounds like a tummy rumble or something.I hesitate to call it an issue, as they don’t seem particularly scared of it. The kitties keep using the water station (and they have other water bowls available), so it gets lots of use. When the noise happens, they look absolutely baffled and make these hilarious faces.We’re going to keep using it , but wanted to let folks know

I like how it locks in place so it wont be tipped over and yes I have one dog that loves to tip over our old one . I love the stainless steel bowl makes it nice to stay clean and easy to wash . Loved the stainless steel removable bowl, the design of the bottle and its handle and lid make it really easy to clean fill and carry. Love how it locks into place so cant be accidentally knocked out. I have two large dogs that love it.

I purchased the PetSafe Heathly Pet small after trying the pump fountain type units. These are often a pain to clean, collect hair, need replacement pumps and filters. Some people want the extra assurance these small filters offer, and they make filters for these. But they are not required and the unit works great without them. Good concept
I purchased this with the food PetSafe Healthy Pet Water Station. Easy assembly and very straight forward. The design is nice.
