  1. Linda M. Jones

    Good and instructive book.
We have had cats for many years but recently our cat was overcoming to the point of having a large bald patch on her side. The vet diagnosed this as stress anxiety and prescribed a medication. I wanted to research to see if we could make changes in our home environment or her food, etc. This book was very helpful and there are several recommendations I am going to try!

  2. Paulette Lema

Además de que tiene contenido informativo muy importante para las personas que tenemos gatos, tiene imagenes grandes y hermosas. Además huele delicioso.

A good introduction to understanding your kitty for novice cat owners
This books value lies in the fact that it is an introduction for novices to campanionship with a cat…not ownership, but companionship! It may very well be the start of what might be one of life’s most rewarding adventures, if you are up to it!!!I have owned a wide variety of pets since the age of 14, including fish, tree frogs, toads, turtles, salamanders, snakes, one bird, several hamsters, 3 bunnies from infancy, a squirrel from infancy, two dogs and 16 cats (only up to 4 at one time). The easiest pets to own were the dogs and the hardest was the salamander, followed by, my cats!!!Cats are NOT as “independent” as people often say, they are independent only out of Necessity! While social, they are not pack animals as are dogs. This makes dogs more loyal, more quickly, as they look at you as the head of their pack.Cats are solitary hunters and seldom hunt in packs. So when they bond with humans, they are accepting you, in many ways, as another cat. You, most of time don’t choose the cat, the cat chooses YOU!For that reason, the bond is not only special, but usually permanent!!!And cats are temperamental and sometimes strangely intelligent (my father never believed my best bud Bumbi could open round door knobs until he saw it one night with his own eyes!!!) He was not only impressed, he, who disliked cats, became a cat lover! But nothing will warm your heart like a cat when he or she chooses YOU as its closest friend!!!But that friendship comes with (for many dog owners) some very strange habits and behaviors that are not easily understood or tolerated! If you think your dog is territorial, wait until you bond with a cat!!!!While cats are meticulously clean, they have some very unpleasant habits when THEIR territorial limits are challenged!!!!And They are, like their distant coyote relatives, nocturnal, which may lead to some very unpleasant behaviors and problems.Having said all that, my best, and the most loyal friend that I have ever had, who went everywhere with me on my shoulders while I drove my pickup truck, held on to me with all his strength and cried his heart out, as I did for many days after, when I had to give him to the vet to have him put down when he had an incurable (at that time) disease that would have only caused him great suffering!!!I have guilt to this day for giving Bumbi up!!!Trust me, this book will be an introduction to novice cat companionship. But, like formal schooling, it is only the beginning of what can be a great, loving, sharing and rewarding learning experience with a fuzzy friend!

  4. Happy Shopper

    Great gift
I bought it for a friend who recently adopted a cat. My friend raved about this book so much in the short time that has passed since gifting it to him that I just ordered another one for a family member who got her first cat. Definitely recommend!

    Whats Important to know
This book has a lot of information and is put out in a very simple way for anyone to understand. Teachs you to undersrand the wants and needs of your furbaby and takes you from the kitten all the way thru the adult hood. Thete is more than just feeding, watering and scooping out littet boxs. I learned thing I never thought of. I have rescued and raised many cats. It’s a must read book for everyone!

  6. J. Paul Henderson

    It’s okay.
There’s some pretty good advice in this book, but the problem is (even with this author) that nobody truly understands cat behavior. I’ve had cats all my life and much as I love them, they’re still a mystery to me. Live with the mystery.

  7. Matthew Wells

    Book Lover
My granddaughter was excited to get this book. Everything you need to know about your cat. The book has taught my granddaughter a lot to know about cats!! Very fast shipping. Exactly as described.

  8. LisaBrogan

Very, Very interesting and useful book.
I read this book to understand the three cats we had. My wife has to spend some time away from home from work. She adopted a new cat for her remote apartment. She did not like the cat’s behavior at first, but I talked her into keeping it and applied the knowledge from this book. The cat warmed up to her and now she loves it!

  9. Lisa Mayer

Has a few chapter photos, not many; however, the material is well organized and thoughtful. Indepth look at cat behaviour. Would have liked to seen more “sample” photos of specific cat behaviour or even cat interaction with other cats or dogs. Overall, still a Good book.

  10. MISS SLM HILL

I would highly recommend this book to any cat owner. Cats are very sensitive and intelligent animals, and if we just take a little more time to communicate with them and understand what need, then it will lead to much happier relationships with these beautiful creatures.

  11. NT

This lovely book is very nicely and simply written in little small chapters of explanation and education for ourselves about our little cats. It is simply explaining how we look after cats and how they feel about us, as well as their other issues, (litter, eating, cat conflict etc). I also found the last pages about training your cat and wow, i think i will need to work on that! Thank you!

  12. MARIANNA ARMATA

I’m happy with this book. It gave me some good, basic info and hints on “communication” with cats in general. I recommend it to first-time cat owners.

  13. SJE

Enjoyed this book. It’s not long winded, and is packed with helpful & useful information. Good section of resources which are American based, yet still relevant. Nicely written with an even readable flow. I feel better able help my rescue cat settle in to her new home and I understand how I can bond with my cat and build a relationship with her.
