Customers say

Customers like the size and value of the litter box. For example, they say it’s big enough for a medium sized cat and the dimensions are accurate. Customers are also impressed with ease of cleaning. That said, some complain about the sturdiness and stability. They say the side clips are not sturdy enough and the door is easily knocked loose. Opinions are mixed on quality and performance.

The Cat’s View of a Litter Box
My owner is off the computer for the moment, so let me use this opportunity to tell you about the Pureness Giant Translucent Litter Box. In short, we cats love this box! My name is Nemo, and I am the oldest ( male age 5 years) of three cats living in the household. My sisters are age three and ten months-Boy, is the kitten a handful… Anyway, perhaps there are some other felines out there who take an interest in pet supplies ordered by their owners. As you know, most of us can urinate just about anywhere we chose – carpet, bedding, etc. Most of us prefer to use clean boxes. I’m not sure the owners understand when we do not use the appointed litter box, we are usually trying to make a statement- Oftentimes, we just want to point out the box needs cleaning or we have an illness which needs human attention – Then again, sometimes we just don’t feel like using a box. Well, the new kitten had such an episode the other day. Feeling the immediate need to relieve herself, she did so on the bed-Humans are so prone to outbursts, & this was no exception. I thought we were going to be rid of the young pest, but the owners relented & just decided to get a second litter box. Guess they thought one of us was using the first box when the little monster kitty felt the urge to go. My owner is so uptight, she spent five hours researching litter boxes online-Even made us sit at the computer to ask our opinion-Like we’d actually tell her- Anyway, this box arrived super fast & was well packed. Boy, have we ever had fun with all the packing material. Anyway, the lid fits well. Owners removed the front door flap since it got in our way. I waited for my sisters to use it first in case something was amiss. I tried it out just this morning & like it. One of the best features is the translucent, smoke gray color. It allows you to see other kitties lying in wait outside the box. My sisters love a practical joke and are always poised to attack just outside the box. Whatever happened to quietly reading “Cat Fancy” while doing your business? The handle is sturdy-I should mention that, due to my allergies, my doctor vet suggested we use shredded newspaper rather than perfumed & dusty litter. Using newspaper means there is no extra strain or weight put on the handle or other parts. As to odor control, which seems to be a big issue with the humans, we don’t find a problem with this box. Using newspaper as litter does not offer the same odor control as regular litter, so our owners (you know, the uptight one) change the contents two to four times per day. Of course, every time the paper is changed, we like to pee again, but the humans need more exercise & stuff to do, so this works out fine for us cats. The owners really seem to like the locking features between the lid & bottom. Our other box is one of those large domed, round Booda styles without lock features in the lid. I was able to raise the lid with my back, pee outside the box, & set the lid back in place. It always made a nice April Fool’s Day joke, anytime of the year. Well, you know humans, they had to go with a locking lid. By the way, if your owners are upset when urine pools around or underneath the litter box, we have some suggestions. So many people seem to use mats or carpets underneath a box-This doesn’t alleviate the problem. Our owners use plastic trays under the box and then put plastic carpet runners under the trays. The tray catches any leakage – The Pureness Box does not seem to leak, but just thought I’d mention it in case it’s an issue with your humans. The dimensions given for the box are accurate – My owner was considering the smaller model, but due to my length & nine pound, fine body, the larger model was ordered. The price was reasonable & there’s money left over for new toys – I’d prefer a cage for the monster kitten, but sometimes it’s best to let the owners think they are in charge. Hope you all enjoy this box as much as we do. Remember, always keep the owners guessing what you’ll do next – They listen to you better that way.

    Best litter box EVER!
First off, I have 6 cats..4 Siamese (3 male, 1 female), a neurotic Havana Brown rescue boy, and a mad Siamese cross (bossy female), I’ll tell you, it’s taken some experimentation to get their toileting just right! After a couple of years of using pine pellets (horse bedding), we changed. The horse pellets were very cheap, and you just put around two cups down. I would remove the solids and flush them, then, when the pellets started to crumble, I would change the trays out, adding the pee-infused pine powder to my compost heap. I have only ever used covered trays and the cats have never known anything else. 18 months ago, one of my male meezers started weeing inappropriately. Medically, he had minor urinary tract issues, which were resolved with Tinkle Tonic and extra, syringed water. BUT he still peed in corners, up the wall (definitely marking behavior), and it was driving us crazy. I kept our boxes spotlessly clean but it made no difference. So.. I decided to forgo the compost benefits and we tried different litters. He stopped peeing outside the box almost immediately! However, two of the boxes we had, which had locating tabs either side of the box, at the join, were leaking through the seam (a problem when you have one cat that stands up to wee!). Also, when you tried to lift the box with the hndle, the top came apart from the bottom so it was definitely time for a change! BTW, the scented litters are a no-no! I developed a skin rash AND respiratory issues whenever I made contact with the darned stuff. We tried the REALLY expensive stuff Dr Elsey’s Cat Attract but it didn’t clump that well, and worked no better than the “dirt” cheap stuff we now use. “Peerless” Pets Scoopable Cat Litter” which comes in 14lb jugs for $4.00 from Big Lots. It clumps wonderfully and seems to be a natural deodoriser. With 6 cats, there is only a little tracking. We have now replaced ALL the old boxes with these large boxes from Van Ness. We HAD tried the Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box from Amazon, but I have now dumped it after only 5 months as it stinks the place up, even after scrubbing. The boy who pees standing up. He hasn’t been able to pee over the top of the entrance of this Van Ness box yet! I find that the super-smooth finish wipes down wonderfully but, whatever you do, don’t use any abrasive scrubbers or cleaners. For cleaning and deodorising, I have an old “wipes” container that I 1/2-fill with water, then add 2.5 ml of pure Thyme oil. I shake it up and then push in around 30 of the “cloth-like” kitchen towels.. you know, the ones that tear in two pieces? I do that before dropping them in. I give the container a good shake, and, hey presto, an eco- and kitty-friendly cleaning wipe that is really cheap if you buy your Thyme Oil in 250 ml bottles like I do :^) BY the way, I DID remove the cat-flaps on these, as always, as my cats refuse to use them, and bliss.. zero odor, no inappropriate peeing.. life is good :^)

When I first bought this product I wasn’t sure if Iris would use it as it was covered and had a door leaving her isolated inside the box but I shouldn’t have worried as she took to it right off the bat. She loves getting on top of the litter box and sleeping there 🙂 My only complaint is the door is not very good as it fell off almost immediately and wouldn’t stay on after that not that it made any difference to Iris. Definitely an Iris-approved litter box. I will say though that there are cats who absolutely do NOT like enclosed litter boxes and will refuse to use them. But other than that it’s an excellent buy.

This litter box is amazing, very well made, good quality materials, lots of room inside (more than I expected). The only thing that is cheaply made is the swinging door which I take off anyways as most cats don’t like that – I just put a litter mat in front of it. Btw – I put it in a corner which fits perfectly, and unlike any other litter box I’ve had I don’t have to move it away from the wall to undo the lid fasteners which is great.Price – I checked locally at a number of stores, and all over Amazon – this is the only one I found that has a top and is under $35. I just ordered a second one while I still have the chance to get one.

The product is very flimsy not sturdy. The flap door keeps falling off. Not worth.
