Best $20 I ever spent!
This is genius! It is so simple and convenient I’d “almost” say it’s a pleasure to use… it certainly makes managing the litter trays a much much more pleasant job than it used to be.I keep it right next to the litter tray and every time I walk past I glance to see if it’s been used.If it has; I just grab the scoop (conveniently mounted on the side of the genie) and remove any clumps.I’ve had it for a month now and here are my observations:* In 4 weeks I have just emptied it for the second time, so for me it has indeed been two weeks per bag change. (My cat is an indoor/outdoor cat. I’ve found that since having this system, with a clean litter tray now always available, the litter tray is now first choice! Which means less cat poops to come across while working in my yard… bonus!* I estimate that I used maybe 18-24″ of bag each time. (I used more bag length than needed the second time and had wasted space so I’ll watch that). Overall I’d guess for the 14′ cartridge length that I’ll get 9 bags full which is <$1/bag... but I'll start measuring and try to get 10 out of a cartridge.* I've found it important that I use a clumping litter, and to keep it deep enough for poop to get buried and that you can easily scoop whole clumps without it bonding to the bottom of the tray - that way no soiled litter is left behind, and therefore no smell. I top up the litter as needed.* I removed the hooded cover from my litter tray and now have it open. This is for my convenience as it makes it so much easier to keep on top of things by simply scooping anything I see whenever I walk past. (I did read that cats prefer an open tray anyway; closed boxes were apparently made for us humans to help contain smells and unsightly messes). On the downside though... Litter depth is still a work in progress: too deep and litter gets spread everywhere, too shallow and clumps stick to the tray bottom as previously mentioned.* So far no marathon clean of the litter tray has been needed! Before this system I admit that I didn't scoop as often as I should have done, which meant things got a bit messy. I would remove any business but not top up the litter, then when it got very low it was time to empty the whole tray and give it a good clean. Having the genie and really keeping on top of things means the litter actually stays clean.* I periodically use a sanitizing wipe to clean it, particularly the inside black plastic cover of the bag cartridge. Simple. There really is zero odor in the house.I've even had comments from guests who are surprised when they see the litter tray and say they had no idea because they couldn't smell a thing.I have one small negative comment about the design: The catch that holds the bottom half closed doesn't work very well. It barely catches and easily comes open if I pick it up. For me this doesn't matter because I'm not picking it up and moving it anyway so I didn't even deduct a star because of all the positives for me.I don't write reviews very often but the litter genie impressed me so much by the positive impact it has had.Like my title says: best $20 I've spent in a while.I would definitely recommend it to anyone sitting on the fence about whether or not to buy one.

No more smell or mess! Absolutely ecstatic!
This is a game changer for us. I’ve had one of those “autoscoop” litter trays for a year. It never worked right but I kept it because I liked having the tray to scoop into so it didn’t clog my toilet or stink up the house. Again, it never worked quite right and often got over full. It was a pain to change and messy.I decided to switch to a normal litter try and picked this product up to go with it. I had a kid so I remember diaper genie from then. I figured it wasn’t expensive so what the heck.OMG. I cannot express how much better this is than anything I have used before. It’s easy to set up, it keeps the smell sealed away, and removing the full bag and setting up for the next one is a breeze (with no stink!).Everything is so much cleaner and more organized and it’s no longer an icky chore I have to psych myself up for to empty the litter collection tray. I may even manage to get my family to help with it one day!For now though I am ecstatic at how well this works as it makes my life so much easier while also keeping the stink out of our bathroom.

Better than expected
I highly recommend this product! Due to the layout of my home, my downstairs litterbox is in not the most ideal spot in the hall way from my livingroom yo my kitchen. Ive always tried keeping the odor down with multiple products in the litter, around the litter box ordor absorbers, a mini trash can with a lid, i even put the gain sented beads for laubdry on the garbage can but there was always that slight odor. Im always trying new things to help and this was such a game changer. My cat is almost 12 and i cant believe its taken me so long to find this product. Its super easy to change and set up. Absolutely worth it. It blocks 100% of odors. I hoped this would work well but its been way better than i expected. Its easy clean up to tie off the bag and toss each week on garbage night abd start fresh. My garbage outside doesnt ecen have the odor of cat litter. Of your debating or putting it off to tey sonetging else first for the odor just dont i promise its worth it.

Not quite big enough for two cats.
Works well and contains the smell better than a small trashcan. The bucket is in two pieces and can be a little tricky to fit together. Overall a good purchase for the price. Consider a bigger size for 2 or more cats.

Odor? What odor?
I acquired a second cat that the litter box odor was killing my nose. Found this pail and it works very nicely to scoop into it, close the lid and it greatly reduces or eliminates the odor. The bags are easy to install and use. The whole thing is easy to use. I’m so happy with this purchase and its so much less expensive than a self scooping, rotating, huge litter box.

Very simple to use
Not sure why I haven’t owned this sooner. It’s great for holding used litter until trash day with no smell coming from the unit. It holds a lot of cat litter. I’ve never filled it to capacity. I even like the scoop that came with it. I have a metal scoop but have been using the one it came with and it works great. It’s pretty easy to set up and doesn’t require a lot of time to reset it.

When I say I no longer hate scooping cat litter…
This product is straight up a game changer. I used to hate scooping cat litter because I used to just put it into a big garbage bag in a 5 gallon bucket which was disgusting and I felt it was unsanitary. This litter genie makes everything SO clean and easy to scoop, and hides all smell. Easy to change out the bags as well.My biggest regret is not getting this 4 years ago when I adopted my cats. Absolutely amazing.

I bought one of these when I moved into a 2 bedroom apartment because I didn’t want my small living area overtaken by dirty litter smell. This is a godsend. With 2 adult cats, I only needed to empty the cannister every 7-10 days, and the included roll lasted me about 7 weeks.Pros:- Absolutely no smell. At all.- Really easy to clean- Added convenience of doing garbage runs less frequentlyCons (sort of):- The official refills can be expensive, but there are other cheaper alternatives available on here that I’ve confirmed worked just as well- I’d you weren’t already using plastic bags to collect and contain your dirty kitty litter, this option does use more plastic than disposing flushable/biodegradable litter. That being said, the amount of plastic used in the genie is probably less than if you used a small poopy bag daily versus one larger bag once a week. The only thing I can’t comment on is the included litter scoop as I prefer using the much larger stainless steel scoops (which work with the genie as well, you just need to scoop more carefully so as not to overflow the topmost collection chamber). This is well worth the price if you struggle with controlling used litter smells.
