An Essential Guide for Raising a Happy and Well-Behaved Dog!
I recently finished reading Zak George’s Dog Training Revolution, and it has been incredibly helpful in raising my new puppy, Dream. This book is a fantastic resource for both new and experienced dog owners, offering practical advice and compassionate training techniques.Zak Georgeâs approach to dog training is rooted in positive reinforcement, which I really appreciate. The book emphasizes building a loving and trusting relationship with your pet, rather than using harsh methods. This philosophy resonates with me, and itâs been wonderful to see how effective it is with my dog. The tips and techniques are easy to understand and implement, making the training process enjoyable for both me and Dream. The book covers everything from basic commands and house training to more advanced behaviors and dealing with common issues like barking and chewing. What I love most is how Zak breaks down each topic into manageable steps. It feels like having a personal dog trainer guiding me through each stage of my puppyâs development.Another great aspect of this book is the emphasis on understanding your dogâs needs and communication. Zak provides insights into canine behavior that have helped me better interpret Dreamâs actions and respond appropriately. Itâs made a huge difference in how we interact and bond.Overall, Zak George’s Dog Training Revolution is a comprehensive and compassionate guide to raising a well-behaved and happy dog. Whether youâre a first-time dog owner or looking to refine your training techniques, this book is an invaluable resource. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to build a loving and effective training relationship with their pet.

Best dog training book I’ve seen
Dogs have a lot to teach us about unconditional love, play, learning to enjoy the small things in life, and not holding grudges. We also have a lot of things to teach our pet, but how can we learn to effectively communicate and train our pup without losing patience? Each dog learns a little differently, but in this book Zak George provides a not only humane way to train, but a way that succeeds. He gives detailed, easy step-by-step training techniques that not only train the dog, but the human as well. The layout is well done and easy to follow and easy to navigate when you’re wanting to work on specific skills. The Kindle edition almost seems a little better, since it has the video links right in the book, but links are easy to find even with physical edition.Outcome So Far:I started watching his Youtube videos when I got two puppies and this book goes into a little more detail on his topics plus a few additional ones. Since adopting his training tips from this book as well as the videos, I’ve seen leaps and bounds in communication with my two dogs. Admittedly, mine came kennel trained, are obsessed with grooming (teeth brushing, fur brushing), loving bath time, ignore cars, and haven’t learned all the tricks he teaches yet (since we haven’t gotten to all of them) so I can’t attest to all the techniques. The ones I’ve tried, however, have done wonders. They sit, they stay consistently (even from far distances and with distractions), His technique for getting them to speak was the only one that worked (I tried about 6 or 7 others out there before I found his). His leash training technique got my dogs walking without pulling in less than 2 weeks and they’re 5 months old. Until I read his section on fetch and teaching a dog how to play Frisbee, I couldn’t get my puppies to play fetch. They no longer puppy bite, steal, and almost have no jumping down. They’re doing a mostly consistent fetch and it’s only been a few weeks. Based on other training techniques I’ve looked at, they’re about where most people expect a 9 months to 1 year old dog to be at. They’re by no means all the way trained, but, as mentioned before, I haven’t got all the way through the book yet. The basic skills, however, are pretty close to meeting expectations and they perform them better than some of my neighbor’s dogs. I’m excited to see where they end up after they’ve graduated from learning all the tricks in this bookI would definitely recommend this book to anyone with a puppy or adult dog who needs help learning the ropes.

So helpful!
Within one hour, our Golden puppy knew how to sit on command! She now knows how to stay, lie down, shake hands, leave it, watch me and high five! All in two weeks time! This book is so descriptive, and I HIGHLY recommend it! It also addresses how to deal with things like puppy biting, jumping, barking and more! I love how he discourages the use of inhumane things like shock and prong collars as well. The most positive training book on the market!

I’m impressed!
I wish I’d had this book before adopting my first dog last year and my new one a couple of months ago. If you’re planning on getting a dog, or even have one already, I highly recommend this book. Zak doesn’t just teach you how to train your dog and build a strong bond with them. I mean, look at the table of contents. He starts with the very beginning: things to consider before getting a dog, and how to prepare for bringing them home.I really like Zak’s method of training. He encourages the use of positive reinforcement and “inside out” training – essentially, getting your dog to think for itself and learn that way – instead of the old methods of physical correction, intimidation, or asserting dominance. I admit I’ve tried to use some of these old methods, as well as things like bittering sprays, and they weren’t very effective for long, if at all. After reading Zak’s book, watching some of his videos, and trying his advice on my newly adopted one-year-old border collie mix, I’ve noticed a difference in just a month and a half. She now rarely ever chews on things she isn’t supposed to, and goes straight to her Kong or Chuck It balls for relief. She hasn’t soiled my floors for a few weeks. She already knew basics like “sit”, “no”, stay”, etc., but I’ve reinforced her understanding and obedience with the tips given in this book, and I’ve even taught her “leave it/look at me” – SUPER handy because she grazes a LOT and will eat just about anything she can get ahold of. She’s still not perfect at it, but I’m sure with time and patience, we’ll get there – no muzzle necessary.Long story short, his methods have proven to be effective, and his writing style is great; it’s very personal and friendly.

I liked his training approach in his videos on YouTube so I bought the book when we got our bernedoodle pup.A lot of down to earth information about taking care and training your dog.Even if you’re not first time dog owners there is still a lot you can learn from the book. It was actually a great refresher after having our other dog for 12 years. It does not hurt to learn puppy care again.A particularly interesting aspect of his book is that he does go into details about many misconceptions and myths of dog care and training and he backs it up with actual research review. Good work.

I had previously read a book from Cesar Millan which I really liked, but it made me thinking that dogs should always be submissive to anything I wanted them to do. Zakâs book has a very friendly approach that I believe can create a bond between the dog and their owner, and itâs what Iâll be following from now on. My dog is 9mo old, Iâm with him for 3 weeks now and he already does lots of things at home and in low distraction environments (sit, down, stand, take a bow, fetch, take it, leave it). Iâm starting frisbee, but still getting their interest on it. I also recommend sympawtico training, they have great resources.
